RH Law have been instructed to represent 3 people arrested for money laundering and fraud in Operation Rhondda, an extensive investigation in to the scrap metal trade. 
19 people have been charged with a variety of offences and will stand trial next year
at Bolton Crown Court.

Following a lengthy joint operation between a number of neighbouring forces under the Operation Pavel banner, 11 people have been charged with conspiracy to steal.  RH Law have been instructed to represent a key defendant.

RH Law took over the defence of a man being prosecuted with 9 others in respect of an alleged conspiracy to import £120 million pound of cannabis from the Continent secreted in consignments of frozen meat.  This is the UK’s largest seizure of cannabis.  Operation Bizarre was a joint operation between GMP and West Yorkshire Police leading to multiple arrests towards the end of 2011 and early part of last year.  The matter is currently before the Manchester Crown Court.

RH Law have been instructed to represent a company director and former football club director following the largest ever investigation in to the supply of ‘legal highs’ and ‘party drugs’; in particular the alleged supply of Methedrone, (Bubble or Meow-Meow).   12 defendants are before the court charged with conspiracy to supply drugs and laundering the proceeds of crime after a massive operation undertaken by TITAN, the North West Regional Crime Squad.

Following the successful defence of one of the suspects arrested by HMRC in Operation Enigma, Simon Harrison has been instructed as the Very High Costs Case Supervisor to represent a second leading defendant.  Operation Enigma is a fraud and money laundering conspiracy involving the transfer of an alleged £250 million pounds though the international money markets.  The case is HMRC’s biggest; a 3 year investigation involved over 250 officer and almost a million pages of prosecution evidence.  The case is proceeding and is expected to conclude in mid 2014.

RH Law has been instructed by G4S, one of the world’s leading international security solutions group to represent the interests of three employees working on behalf of the UK Government.  Jimmy Mubenga was killed on the runway at Heathrow airport whilst being forcibly repatriated.  A 2 year investigation, Operation Fleener, conducted by the Metropolitan Police’s homicide and major crime command followed. Now a 10 week inquest into the death of Jimmy Mubenga is to be held at Isleworth Crown Court in the summer.

RH Law have been instructed by 7 of 15 individuals who were arrested following a targeted operation by GMP’s Organised Crime Division in to the supply of drugs and money laundering.  Drugs, cash, firearms and a hand grenade were seized after a dozen properties were raided.

RH Law instructed to represent one of two defendants in a high profile prosecution involving allegations by former students at the renowned Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester against a former master and his wife.  The case attracted considerable publicity after the complainant tragically took her own life after giving evidence.

RH Law instructed to represent G following his arrest in Operation Adequate, an investigation into numerous armed robberies of banks and cash in transit vans.   Helen Richardson appeared for G at MInshull Street Crown Court.  The initial trial was abandoned due to prosecution failings in disclosure.  At the second trial the Prosecution were forced to offer no evidence against G the defendant after the trial began after defence experts cast significant doubt over police telephone and identification evidence.

RH Law instructed to represent a number of defendants whom the prosecution allege are the leaders of a notorious south Manchester Organised Crime Group said to be heavily involved in the supply of drugs, firearms and extortion.  The defendants were charged after an attack on a male in a supermarket left him with very grave injuries.  The matter is currently before the Court of Appeal in respect of an issue of law.

A joint Revenue and Customs/SOCA operation discovered the importation of £13 million pounds of cocaine being imported through Dover.  RH Law instructed to represent A before the Crown Court at Canterbury.

RH Law instructed to represent I who was 1 of 15 charged after GMP launched Operation Irbey following the murder for renowned boxer John Lee Barrett and the attempted murder of his nephew by a south Manchester Organised Crime Group in a Rochdale night club last Christmas. I was cleared of any involvement in the murder. The case was involved interlocutory appeals to the Court of Appeal.

Following Operation Hulton, RH Law were instructed to represent the E who was charged with the rape and murder of his estranged wife and 9 other counts of rape in respect of other complainants.  Following representation by Maura McGowan QC, Richard Simons and Simon Harrison, E was acquitted of murder and the 9 counts of rape were ordered to lie on file.

RH Law instructed to represent D following a joint operation by West Midlands police and the Driver Standards Agency under the banner of Operation Chilcote.  Allegations of fraud and corruption on a significant scale centred on driving examiners at a Midlands driving test centre. The case continues before the Birmingham Crown Court.

RH Law instructed to represent G who was indicted in respect of a charge of arson with intent to endanger life following a fire set in a block of flats in what the prosecution alleged was a revenge attack following a longstanding feud involving G.  The prosecution were forced to concede the case was fraught with evidential difficulties and ultimately forced to offer no evidence against the defendant after Helen Richardson advanced submissions at a pre trial hearing.

Greater Manchester and Cheshire Police launched joint Operation Azuma to target an Organised Crime Group who were travelling extensively throughout the north west to steal high value and high performance motor vehicles for onward sale, some of which were used in armed robberies.  Quantities of drugs and firearms were recovered.  RH Law were instructed to represent one of numerous defendants arrested after the extensive undercover operation.

Helen Richardson has had a succession of fantastic results with numerous riot cases
dealt with at Manchester Crown and Youth Courts and the Court of Appeal. Chief amongst
these was the groundbreaking riots appeal argued before the Lord Chief Justice at
The Court of Appeal on the 27th of September 2011. Helen won the appeal on behalf
of our client Stephen Carter; one of only three appeals out of ten that day that were
successful. Leading legal commentator Andrew Keogh praised her for “leading the way
on solicitor advocacy and winning a riot case”. She has also successfully argued for a
reduction in sentence at other appeals heard at Manchester Crown Court. The following

to appear at Manchester City Magistrates' Court during the emergency all night sitting
of 10th August to represent those charged with offences arising out the wide spread rioting which has blighted the city the previous evenings. Greater Manchester Police launched Operation Valent in response to the disorder which saw over 100 defendants appearing in custody before 3 District Judges in a historic session which sat until 6.45am.

February 2011 - RH Law secure murder acquittal in operation Pursuit
Following a 12 week trial at Manchester Crown Court. Ryan Manning, whose defence was
prepared by Simon Harrison, was the only one of 5 defendants to be acquitted of murder of Nasar Shazad, shot dead in July 2009 at Brookhouse Wines in Salford. Other firearms charges against Mr Manning following a shooting in Longsight in 2007 were dropped by the prosecution after his acquittal for murder.

SOCA, South Wales Police and the Regional Asset Recovery Agency have made numerous arrests in Operation Texas, an investigation in to the supply of £14m of Class A drugs. RH Law have been instructed in respect of the alleged laundering of the vast proceeds of the gang.

RH Law have been instructed to represent a man charged in connection with the discovery of a number of premises converted for the purposed of cultivating cannabis in Cheshire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, West Yorkshire and the West Midlands. Over £6m worth of cannabis has been seized. Charges of conspiracy to defraud arising from a car investment scam have also been brought.
